Life in the Years is a joint initiative of Musicians for a Cause and the Moore Center and it's
focused on encouraging nationwide replication of innovative ideas that enhance the lives of our
nation's elderly. The music is used to create awareness and financial support while bringing
visibility to the issues around aging. The song contest was sponsored by AARP New
Hampshire and included a specific themed request for them, and Les Sampou was the winner
of that category.

We offer our sincerest thanks to all who entered and supported this project. The songs and
stories were incredibly touching and have helped create the most comprehensive collection of
music in the world focused on bringing love, compassion, awareness and a touch of humor to
the issues aroung aging. Our goal was to create such a compelling compilation that each
person who hears it finds several songs that they
just have to tell someone about, and we
certainly accomplished that.

The "Life in the Years" project went out to over 350,000 talented songwriters around the
world.
We had entries from Australia to Iceland, India to Trinidad, the United States to the
United Arab Emirates, all over Europe and everywhere in between! Choosing the winners was a
difficult task, but here they are, in alphabetical order. Our special thanks to Natalie Merchant
and Livingston Taylor for also supporting this effort.

The songs and inspiration notes are all very touching in their own way and represent so many
important perspectives and messages that had to be heard, so we decided to have two
compilations.
Grand Prize winners will be on the main compilation with our established artists
and the
Finalists will be on a companion compilation.

"Life in the Years" is much more than the compilation CDs. The music provides the foundation
for a national initiative to support our nations elderly. You can see the details at the Life in the
Years website.
